Nursery Consultation

Consultation Letter:
Proposed Opening of 30 Pre-School Places at Laneshaw Bridge Primary School
Dear Stakeholders,
We are writing to seek views on an exciting educational proposal currently under consideration: the potential opening of 30 pre-school, aged 2-4 years, places at Laneshaw Bridge Primary School.
At this stage, we are carrying out an initial consultation only.
Our intention is now to gather community feedback, gauge levels of interest, and understand the needs of our families before any concrete planning, resourcing, or organisational steps are taken.
Should sufficient interest and support be confirmed, the project would move into a second phase of planning. This would include a more detailed consultation process including the organisation of a stakeholder meeting, allowing all interested parties to contribute further to the development of the proposal.
Why a Pre-School at Laneshaw Bridge Primary School?
Introducing a pre-school provision would bring several key benefits to both families and the school community:
- Earlier Access to High-Quality Education
In line with the government’s initiative to increase school-based nursery provision nationally, children who may later join Laneshaw Bridge School would have the opportunity to begin their learning journey earlier within a familiar, nurturing environment rooted in strong personal development and educational outcomes. - Stronger and Earlier Relationships with Families
Establishing connections with families at an earlier stage helps to build trust and strengthen home–school partnerships from the very beginning. This early collaboration supports a smoother transition, a shared understanding of each child’s needs and fosters a consistent, joined-up approach to their education and personal development. - Support for Families
Families, particularly those with older siblings already attending the school, would benefit from a single drop-off and collection point, easing daily routines and strengthening the sense of continuity between early years and primary education. - Enhanced Staff Expertise and Collaboration
Introducing a pre-school provision would create greater opportunities for staff to share best practice, strengthen professional expertise, and collaborate across early years and primary phases. This integrated approach supports high-quality teaching and ensures children benefit from well-aligned, developmentally appropriate support throughout their early learning journey.
Outline of Proposed Provision
The proposed pre-school places would operate during term time and holiday periods. Families would also have access to wrap-around care, consistent with the school’s current hours of operation.
Further details including more information regarding staffing, curriculum, and accommodation would be developed in the next stage should the project progress.
